After 52 years of use by teenagers rushing to their next class, Padua’s original steel lockers are ready for the recycling center. Some won’t close. most won’t open without a strong pull. A few are missing pieces that simply broke off from fatigue.
It’s estimated that since September 5, 1961, each student locker at Padua has been opened and closed more than 200,000 times. Two coats of paint and 11,400 students later, these original steel closets clanged shut for the last time on June 6, 2014.
Each year, we plan on making at least one major improvement to the school. One of this year’s improvements will be the replacement of every student locker. By continually upgrading our facilities, we can provide a positive educational environment.
The cost of this project is $120,000. It is made possible thanks to the generosity of our alumni and parents.
