Padua Franciscan High School announced the hiring of Michael Polevacik as its next head football coach on Monday, February 22, 2016. Along with joining the social studies department next fall, he will assist with the growing international exchange program at Padua and assume the position of Associate Athletic Director.
“I am so blessed and excited to join the Padua Franciscan Family,” said Coach Polevacik. “My family is truly happy about this new opportunity to join the community. I am eager to get to work and meet the student athletes and educators. I am extremely excited to lead the Padua Football program and look forward to being on the sidelines this fall.”
Coach Polevacik was the defensive coordinator at Benedictine High School last season. Polevacik was also head coach at Elyria Catholic High School for four years from 2011 through 2014, earning a record of 23-17 with the Panthers. Prior to being head coach at EC, Mike was an assistant coach for 10 years at Elyria Catholic and St. Edward high schools.
“We are extremely excited to bring Coach Polevacik to Padua to lead our football program. He will have a tremendous impact on our community. His passion and enthusiasm for football is matched by his passion and commitment to Catholic school education and community,” said Athletic Director Kevin Leigh ’89.
