Senior Lacrosse Player Receives WKYC Student-Athlete Shout-Out

Michael WtulichSenior Michael Wtulich has adopted a hands-on leadership style when mentoring less-experienced teammates as a captain on the school’s young varsity lacrosse team this spring.

“Mike Wtulich is a leader both on and off the field,” first-year Padua lacrosse coach Mathew Peters said. “He has been a valuable asset to this program and will be regarded as one of the best defensive poles Padua has ever seen. He has stepped up as a role model and positive example to first-year athletes, taking numerous players under his wing throughout the season.”

In addition to serving as a role model, Wtulich has produced on-field results. The Mercyhurst University signee leads the team in ground balls, boasts a 46 percent shooting mark from his defensive position and has netted 14 goals, which ranks second-most on the team.

“He truly exhibits the qualities of a Padua Franciscan athlete.” Peters said. “He’s committed, open to growth, respectful and, once again, is a leader both on the field and off.”
