Alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends of Padua gathered for the 35th annual James W. Day Alumni Golf Classic, presented by Koler Financial Group and H&M Landscaping on Friday, May 31, 2024. Coffee and donuts were served during registration before golfers took to the practice range. A boxed lunch and complimentary beverages awaited foursomes on the course.
The 19th hole included heavy appetizers, an open bar, presentation of awards, and a message from President Dave Stec ’86. Additionally, during the post-golf celebration, James Day Jr. honored his late father and longtime Padua advocate, fundraiser, and supporter, James W. Day, with an emotional tribute. The legendary Parma Mayor and Padua Hall of Famer was an instrumental figure in the success of our alumni golf outing over the years, as well as in several other Padua fundraising initiatives.
Thirty-two groups competed in the sold-out scramble tournament at Shale Creek Golf Club. Mark Odabashian ’10, James Flowers ’10, Mark Spehar ’10, and Patrick Althof shot 15 under to win the 2024 overall championship. A total of nine groups composed of alumni from the same graduating class competed for the Alumni Cup. Representing the Class of 1999, Jason Radzyminski, Sean Esson, Andy Selwa, and Jeff Zipp came in 14 under and took home the Cup.
