Coin Wars Competition 2017

December 5th, 2017 | News, News 2017

Padua students, faculty and staff raised $14,719 during our annual Coin Wars competition on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. One-hundred percent of the proceeds will be going to charities, including Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, local food pantries and many other worthy causes.

During our annual Coin Wars competition, freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors and faculty/staff compete against each other to raise the most money. It’s an action-packed competition involving the entire school. Students bring bags full of coins and cash they saved or collected from loved ones throughout the year. The class who raises the most money for charity wins! (This year the senior class won!)

Christmas For Others is the largest student-run fundraiser in Northeast Ohio. It is a program designed to make the holidays brighter for the less fortunate. Coin Wars is just one of the many events we do during the month of December. In addition to the $14,719 from Coin Wars, our school raises an additional $20,000 for the needy by holding a Spaghetti Dinner, plus many other fundraisers. Students also collect thousands of items (food, clothing, books and toys) for the underprivileged. This year, donations will be distributed to dozens of worthy causes during our CFO Mass on Friday, December 22, 2017.
