Padua Announces Hall of Fame Fall 2022 Inductees

The Padua Franciscan High School Athletic Hall of Fame was established to recognize those who have either excelled in one or more sports while at Padua or made a major impact on the school’s athletic program or local sports, leading to the enhancement of Padua’s image.

Please join us in congratulating these incredible Bruins on being named Padua Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees! They will be inducted on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Padua.

Jim Smith ’68
Jim Smith played Basketball and Golf for the Bruins and still holds three school records in the Basketball program: most points in a game (45, tied with Ken Kowall ’67), most rebounds in a game (32), and most rebounds in a season (376). He’s also 2nd in school history for points in a season (534) and career rebounds (696). Jim was also named All-Ohio Honorable Mention and Plain Dealer Dream Team member.

Mike Glover ’75
Mike Glover is regarded as one of the best Hockey players in Padua history. The four-year letterman and starter helped the Bruins to the Baron Cup Championship in 1975 by scoring 5 goals in an 8-7 overtime victory. Mike’s overall record was 80-11-4 at Padua, and he earned All-League honors all four years with the Bruins winning three league titles. Mike was also named to the All-Scholastic team after his junior and senior seasons and held the record for most points in the Greater Cleveland Hockey League upon graduation.

Brian Wallace ’88
Brian Wallace was letterman in two sports at Padua: Football and Hockey. Brian started two seasons for the Football team and anchored one of the best offensive lines in school history during his junior and senior seasons. The 1986 team went 9-1 on the season and barely missed the playoffs. Brian was named to the all-Plain Dealer team after his senior year. He was also a four-year letterman for the Hockey team that won the first state title in school history in 1988. Wallace scored a hat trick in the Baron Cup final victory over St. Ed’s and was a captain his senior year. Brian went on to play Football at the University of Michigan.

Kristin (Readence) Ortopan ’00
Kristin (Readence) Ortopan was a three-sport athlete and Ms. Bruin in 2000. Kristin helped the Volleyball team to two 20-win seasons and league titles in her junior and senior year, earning All-District and All-League honors. Kristin also started on the Basketball team, which reached the District Championship in her senior year. For Track & Field, Kristin qualified for Regionals in the High Jump and still holds two school records: High Jump (5’4”, tied with Rebecca Plescia ’10) and the 4×200 relay (Rachel Teron ’02, Kristin Readence ’00, Christin Whidden ’02, Jessica Markowski ’01). Kristin went on to play Volleyball at Walsh University where she was a four-time All-Conference player earning NAIA All-American Honors in her career. She was named to Walsh University’s Wall of Fame in 2011.

Pat McLemore ’06
Pat is the school’s first two-time individual State Champion, winning the Wrestling State Title in 2003 (at 103 lbs.) and 2006 (at 135 lbs). In ’02-’02 Pat became the only wrestler in Padua history to finish the season undefeated as State Champion, with a 39-0 record. He’s currently 3rd in career pins with 84 and in the top 10 for career wins with 148. Pat was also a starter on the Padua Soccer team during his junior year. At Northern Illinois University, Pat continued his wrestling career and won the MAC championship at 141 lbs. in ’07-’08.
