Padua Franciscan Performing Arts will present Newsies as its Fall Musical. The show will run November 21-24, 2019. It will be directed by Mrs. Rebecca Simna.
About the Show
Newsies The Musical is a musical based on the 1992 musical film Newsies, which in turn was inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City. The show has music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein based on film’s screenplay by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White. The musical premiered at the Paper Mill Playhouse in 2011 and made its Broadway debut in 2012, where it played for more than 1,000 performances before touring.

- Friday, November 22nd at 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, November 23rd at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, November 24th at 1:30 p.m.
Audition Information
We are excited to begin the audition process and welcome all who want to be involved. There are many opportunities to participate including cast, middle school chorus, orchestra pit and crew. Crew consists of set construction, light and sound board operation, costume design and tailoring, scenic painting, prop hunting and much more! - NEWSIES MIDDLE SCHOOL AUDITION FORM (We are inviting 5th – 8th graders to audition for both a featured role and a small middle-school chorus. Grade school auditions will be on Sunday, September 22nd from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.)
