Senior Awards Assembly 2021

The Padua Franciscan community celebrated its outstanding students during the Senior Awards Assembly at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Friday, May 21, 2021. Click here to watch the event.

Several of our seniors have made the commitment to serve the United States of America in the Armed Forces. Thank you to the following Bruins for their commitment and service to our country:
Ryan Shepard – Air Force
Robert Wirtz – Air Force
Jaden Keirn – Air Force ROTC at Bowling Green
Andrew Ocilka – Army Reserves (plans to enroll in ROTC at Cleveland State)

The Class of 2021 has been offered over $15 million in non-need-based scholarships. These scholarships testify to the quality and value of a Padua Franciscan education.

The Class of 2021’s valedictorian is Anthony Shuman (5.0 GPA). He is a graduate of St. Columbkille School and plans to attend The Ohio State University. The salutatorian is John Niezgoda (4.77 GPA). He is a graduate of St. Michael School and plans to attend Cleveland State University.

In keeping with Padua tradition, each year the Padua faculty has the honor of selecting one senior young man and woman who best represent the ideals of Padua Franciscan High School. The awards of Mr. and Miss Paduan are given to the seniors who exemplify the finest characteristics of the ideal Padua man and woman. All facets of personality are considered in the selection for this honor including Christian values, Franciscan compassion, academic dedication, strong character, superior leadership qualities, and concerned citizenship.

The following students were nominated for Mr. Paduan: Josh Dunham, Sam Ehrbar, Daniel Obloj, Austin Pacula and Anthony Shuman. The Mr. Paduan 2021 award went to Anthony Shuman.

The following students were nominated for Miss Paduan: Molly Gerity, Raeanne Grant, Amaree Horne, Grace Krieger and Carly Kwiatkowski. The Miss Paduan 2021 award went to Raeanne Grant.

Unique to Padua’s Athletic Department is the coveted Mr. and Miss Bruin awards. The Athletic Department and coaches select the seniors who most deserve the honor of the best athlete at Padua. The qualities on which the athletes are evaluated are their athletic skills, high school athletic achievements, participation, coachability, sportsmanship, leadership, academics, and school involvement.

The following students were nominated for Mr. Bruin: Sam Ehrbar, Jason Freeman, Daniel Peterson, David Rice, Jerome Shaw-Mason and Ryan Whitely. The Mr. Bruin 2021 award went to Sam Ehrbar.

The following students were nominated for Miss Bruin: Brooke Cirigliano, Jordan Chessar, Maria Futey, Kenzie Morsillo, Leah Nagy, Alexa Sotak and Casey Tamulewicz. The Miss Bruin 2021 award went to Alexa Sotak.

The Phi Beta Kappa Award is meant to recognize a student who exemplifies outstanding scholarship, shows academic initiative, and embodies total achievement. The 2021 Phi Beta Kappa Award went to Anthony Shuman.
