Senior Awards Assembly 2024

The Padua Franciscan community celebrated its outstanding students during the Senior Awards Assembly at Padua on Friday, May 24, 2024.

The Class of 2024 has been offered millions of dollars in non-need-based scholarships. These scholarships testify to the quality and value of a Padua Franciscan education.

The Class of 2024’s valedictorian is Cassidy Milner. She is a graduate of St. Mary of the Falls School and plans to attend The Ohio State University. The salutatorian is Ruth Harley. She is a graduate of St. Ambrose School and plans to attend Xavier University. Click here to see the Top 10 in the Class of 2024.

The following students were recognized as National Merit Commended Students: Miranda Dawson ’24, Dillan Hobe ’24 and Andrew Novotny ’24.

Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2023 competition by taking the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Click here to read more about their accomplishments.

In keeping with Padua tradition, each year the Padua faculty has the honor of selecting a senior young man and woman who best represent the ideals of Padua Franciscan High School. The awards of Mr. and Miss Paduan are given to the seniors who exemplify the finest characteristics of the ideal Padua man and woman. All facets of personality are considered in the selection for this honor including Christian values, Franciscan compassion, academic dedication, strong character, superior leadership qualities, and concerned citizenship.

The following students were nominated for Mr. Paduan: Troy Buehner, Jacob Meyers, George Ochocki, Lance Pickel and Joseph Zver. The Mr. Paduan 2024 award went to Lance Pickel.

The following students were nominated for Miss Paduan: Sofia Bowman, Rhianna Brar, Ruth Harley, Jade Kinzie and Anna Mihacevich. The Miss Paduan 2024 award went to Sofia Bowman.

Unique to Padua’s Athletic Department are the coveted Mr. and Miss Bruin awards. The Athletic Department and coaches select the seniors who most deserve the honor of the best athlete at Padua. The qualities on which the athletes are evaluated are their athletic skills, high school athletic achievements, participation, coachability, sportsmanship, leadership, academics, and school involvement.

The following students were nominated for Mr. Bruin: Yuri Bellina, Troy Buehner, Jacob Duliba, Colin Matier and Brendan Tahsler. The Mr. Bruin 2024 award went to Colin Matier.

The following students were nominated for Miss Bruin: Madeline Burgess, Kristen Jay, Cassidy Milner, Jessica Neiman and Ella Polomsky. The Miss Bruin 2024 award went to Kristen Jay.

The Phi Beta Kappa Award is meant to recognize a student who exemplifies outstanding scholarship, shows academic initiative, and embodies total achievement. The 2024 Phi Beta Kappa Award went to Ruth Harley.
