Padua Announces 2023 Hall of Fame Inductees

The Padua Franciscan High School Hall of Fame was established to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to the success of Padua in a significant way. The Hall of Fame recognizes nominees in the area of athletics, service, and volunteerism; success in their field of work; and community leadership.

Congratulations to the 2023 Hall of Fame inductees who were honored at the Bruin Benefit on Saturday, April 29, 2023

OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS AWARD

Awarded to a male alum who has made a major impact either in service to Padua, service to the community, or achievement in their chosen field of work.

James Gaydosh ’78

Jim Gaydosh ’78 was a National Honor Society officer, a Wrestling team co-captain, and the recipient of the Symphonic Band departmental award during his senior year. He attended Bowling Green State University on a musical talent scholarship where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Jim is a Certified Financial Planner and the President of Valued Capital Advisors, a multi-year Gold Sponsor of Bruin Benefit Celebrazione. He served two terms as a member of Padua’s Board of Trustees. He is the Director Emeritus of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and currently serves as a member of Beat The Streets Cleveland Board of Directors. Jim and his wife Deb are the proud parents of three Padua graduates, Mark ’08, Todd ’10, and Kelly ’12.

Awarded to a female alum who has made a major impact either in service to Padua, service to the community, or achievement in their chosen field of work.

Dr. Kelly (Smith) Gibson ’00  

Dr. Kelly (Smith) Gibson ’00 was the Valedictorian of her class and also received the departmental awards for Math and Science. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science and Gender Studies from the University of Notre Dame and her MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Kelly is currently a member of Padua’s Board of Trustees and she has been a longtime participant in the MedTrack® speaker series. She is the Division Director for Maternal Fetal Medicine at The MetroHealth System and an Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University. In 2022, Dr. Gibson was honored as one of the Best Doctors by Cleveland Magazine.

FRANCISCAN MEDAL AWARD

Awarded to the individual, couple, or company who has actively worked toward the advancement of education of young people at Padua or in the Parma area.

Joseph Hanna ’79 and Maria Ramundo

Over the years, Joe Hanna ’79 and Maria Ramundo have partnered with the Padua community in various ways, consistently giving of their time, talent, and treasure. As charter members of MedTrack’s advisory board, not only were they both instrumental in its launch, but they have remained active participants, lending guidance and support throughout the years. In addition, through their generosity, Joe and Maria continue to greatly impact people, programs, and projects at Padua Franciscan High School. Hanna and Ramundo are both accomplished in their respective fields of medicine. Presently, Hanna is the Co-Director of the Neuroscience Service Line at Prisma Health in Columbia, SC and Ramundo is Director of the Pediatric Residency Program at Akron Children’s Hospital. They are the proud parents of two Padua graduates, Izzy ’13 and Nathaniel ’14.

Ray and Eleanor Smiley

Ray and Eleanor Smiley have dedicated their lives to serve God. This is evident in their belief of giving their best, bar none, throughout their family life, throughout Ray’s acclaimed business career, as loyal donors to many Catholic institutions, and in over 60 years of service in Cleveland’s Catholic community as volunteers and trustees. The generosity of Ray, Eleanor, and The Smiley Family Charitable Foundation continues to significantly impact our Padua community, support our students, strengthen our Franciscan mission, and transform lives. The extraordinary humility, service, and philanthropy of Ray and Eleanor serve as a living example of the words of St. Francis of Assisi “preach the Gospel at all times, when necessary, use words.” Ray and Eleanor are the proud grandparents of three Padua graduates Anastasia ’14, Isabelle ’20, and Cameron ’22.
