More than 80 Bruins from the Class of 1972 gathered for a weekend-long 50th Reunion in August 2022. This celebration was planned, organized, and executed by The Legends of ’72 Reunion Committee, led by Dave Zavagno ’72.

The festivities began with Padua Night at Progressive Field on Friday, August 5, 2022. Padua’s 1972 Baseball team commemorated back-to-back no-hitter victories over St. Joe’s and St. Ed’s with ceremonial first pitches at the game. Pitchers Tim McGoldrick ’72 and Gary Kulbaga ’72 took the mound as catcher Paul Supan ’72 joined them on the field. From the first pitch to the postgame fireworks, Bruins of all ages gathered to honor the Class of 1972. Padua pride filled the ballpark!

The Legends of ’72 were back on campus and roaming the halls of Padua on Saturday, August 6, 2022. The evening began with Mass celebrated by Fr. Justin Belitz, ofm. Then the 50th Reunion party officially kicked off in the Gym with heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks and music. The handshakes, hugs, and storytelling filled Padua with an incredible energy. After a class photo was taken, President Dave Stec ’86 led the Golden Bruins and guests on a tour of the school.

The revelry continued from Padua all the way to Put-in-Bay. A legendary trip aboard the Jet Express made for a memorable way to conclude the weekend festivities on Sunday, August 7, 2022. A beautiful wreath-laying ceremony was held on the water to honor deceased classmates. As Padua took over Put-In-Bay, Bruins gathered for a group photo in front of Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. In addition, the class invited current Padua faculty and staff to join them on the wonderful lake excursion.
