Freshmen received their Tau cross necklaces during a ceremony in the Chapel in November 2018. The Tau is a key symbol of what all Franciscans are called to be – followers of Christ. St. Francis of Assisi used the Tau for his signature.
Students received a special blessing at the end of the ceremony:
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
May the Lord turn His face and be gracious to you,
May the Lord look upon you with kindness and give His peace,
On Earth may the Lord increase in you His graces and virtues,
And in Heaven, may the Lord exalt and glorify you among His saints,
May the Lord be with you always and wherever you are, may you always be with Him.
