Juniors & Seniors Receive Italian Awards

For many years the Italian American Cultural Foundation, the Southwest Italian American Club, the Italian American Brotherhood Club and the Sante Catholic Union have sought to promote the Italian language program at Padua Franciscan by sponsoring a number of awards for students taking Italian.

The following four students are the winners of an essay contest, in which students read one of the books donated by these organizations and wrote an essay on the Italian-American experience:

  • Olivia Manocchio ’17 – $1,000 award ($500 for the top prize at Padua and $500 for top student among all students/schools participating.)
  • Hanna Ross ’17 – $300 award
  • Lynsey Wallace ’17 – $200 award
  • Joseph Diliberto ’17 – $100 award

Receiving this year’s Italian Language Awards:

  • Bianca Frech ’17 – $250 award
  • Zachary Litwinowicz ’17 – $250 award
  • Olivia Manocchio ’17 – $250 award
  • Hanna Ross ’17 – $250 award

The recipient of the Brigida Bianco Award (given by the Noi Foundation in Detroit):

  • Alexandra DiPaolo ’17

First Place recipient:

  • Miranda Dorsey ’18 – $300 award

Honorable Mention recipient:

  • Shauna Connelly ’18 – $100 award
