Esteemed guests consisting of current Friar Club members, leadership donors in the President’s Club, alumni, and other valued members of the Padua community turned out to induct and celebrate the newest inductees of the Friar Club at the annual President’s Reception held on September 14, 2023. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour and heavy hors d’oeuvres catered by Nomad Culinary, owned by Chris Kafcsak ’05, and live music by Padua’s Jazz Band, under the direction of Mark Wozniak ’97. Tony Shuman ’91, vice-president of advancement, began the presentation portion of the evening as he and President Dave Stec ’86 inducted the newest members of the Friar Club: Gerald F. Franklin, Ann Marie ’94 and David Frattare, Dr. Kelly ’00 and Paul Gibson, Dr. Bob ’83 and Chris Litkovitz, Mike ’68 and Lora Mlinarcik, Tim ’76 and Gina Smith.
Principal Bob DiRocco and Vice Principal Elizabeth Oles Smith discussed the state of the school and the exciting opportunities the school will have through its newly acquired international accreditation. Dave Stec followed with some closing words, and Friar Johnpaul Cafiero, OFM, ended the night in prayer.

The Friar Club was established in 1988 to honor individuals, corporations, and foundations that have made a significant financial gift to Padua Franciscan High School and the young people we serve. Membership is reserved for those who have demonstrated a desire to ensure the future of Franciscan education at Padua by making a current (including cumulative) gift of $25,000 or more for any purpose, including financial aid, endowment, or capital improvements.
Lifetime member benefits include recognition on the Padua website, in The Paduan magazine, and on The Friar Club plaque prominently displayed in the school. Members are invited to the annual reception with the President and Friar Club Induction Ceremony, as well as several VIP events throughout the year. Friar Club members also receive complimentary admission to Padua-hosted Athletic events and Fine Arts performances.
