Sophomores Serve Community on Annual Retreat

Sophomores spent a day in prayer, service and reflection together in mid-October. They put our mission into practice by embracing the words of St. Francis of Assisi. “Preach the gospel. When necessary use words.”

Our students began the day  with an hour of prayer and contemplation before heading out to various service sites throughout the Greater Cleveland area. They came back together after lunch and gathered as a community in further reflection and prayer before dismissal.

Students volunteered at hunger centers, such as St. Malachi Drop In Center, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, The West Side Catholic Center and St. Herman’s House of Hospitality. They also volunteered at nursing homes and health care centers, such as Mount Alverna and Regina Health Center. Additionally they cared for God’s creation at Crown Point and Camp Cheerful, and worked with children at schools like Metro Catholic and St. Francis School.
