Each year, Cleveland Institute of Art hosts the Scholastic Art Competition that recognizes creative achievement in area 7-12 grade students. The young artists compete for cash prizes, medals, and scholarship awards. A panel of local professional artists, art educators, writers, and writing educators jury the exhibit and select the awarded pieces from more than 1,800 entries.
- Senior Emily Dontenville ’17 won a two Silver Key Awards for her “Like Father Like Son” and “High Strung” paintings.
- Senior Sarah Rapacz ’17 won a Silver Key Award for her “Mona’s Ram Head” painting.
- Junior Erica Stegens ’18 won an Honorable Mention Award for her “Mechanics” drawing and illustration.
In 2017 Silver Key Awards Artwork demonstrating achievement worthy of recognition at the regional level. Students were recognized with Silver Key pins, certificates, and were invited to the exhibition and reception, January 14, 2017.
